Question #1:

Cat questions...LOL! Cat acts weird sometimes....?

I've had my cat about 3 years now, she's a Ragamuffin (from what I'm told)...Anyways, every now and again she'll walk around the house and just start meowing. Not for long though...Then sometimes, in the middle of the night when I'm sleeping, I'll wake up to her in my room meowing really loud and when I call to her, she comes running to me really quick, jumps on my bed, and cuddles with me. The last couple of times she's done it, I've noticed her little cat toy is in the room. When I go to bed its not in the room, but when I wake up to her meowing, I'll find it on the floor. It's like she carries it to my room...She's fixed and all, so I know she's not in heat, but what could her problem be, if any? Or is she just being cute?

Question #2:

What is the best gender dynamic for cats?

I'm getting two cats in a little more than a year from now and one will definitely be a ragdoll. The other I'm still thinking about, but it's between egyptian mau, ragamuffin and munchkin. My question is will they be happier if they are of the same gender (both males) or if there is one male and one female. Also should one of them be a specific gender, like ragdoll specifically be female? Just looking for the best gender dynamic between them. I would personally prefer that both be males, but there might be some dominance issues even if they are both neutered?

If anyone has any info on bonding between owner and cats in regards to gender I'd be glad to hear it. I'm a woman so will male cats bond with me better than females?
Dunno if anyone will check back on this, but THANK you for telling me about the munchkin breed. I definitely won't be spending money to support those breeders.

I haven't budged on the ragdoll, but the other cat will be a rescue from a local shelter, most likely. Thank you all for the responses!

Question #3:

Would Munchkin cats and RagaMuffins get along together?

Would Munchkin cats and RagaMuffins get along together? And how would a Egyptian Mau do with both of those?

Question #4:

HELP! RAGAMUFFIN CATS!?

I just got this adorable cat (ragamuffin cat) yea it's a weird breed, but its so loveable and sooo cute!! Anyway, when I got the cat the man said it would get "big" the cat is suppose to be 4 months old, and it looks FULLY GROWN! How big do these cats get? I can't find an exact height and weight. Somebody must know!?!?

Question #5:

Are ragamuffin cats hypoallergenic?

I know technically, they can't be entirely hypoallergenic... but you know what I mean :)

Question #6:

why does our spayed female 5 YO growl and hiss at our other cats?

Our spayed female 5 Year Old ragamuffin cat has started growling and hissing at our other cats. She is a 5 yr old spayed female, and we got her from the pound, where we got the other 2. We got them over a 2 month period, and she was #2 in line. The others are a 2 year old spayed female and a 2 year old neutered male.

For 3 months all was fine but the 5 year old is now strutting around, hissing and growling at the others. She even growled at my wife. The other cats will run off when she does this. We don't like it since we don't want a bully and I hate to see the other kitties afraid in their own home. This same cat comes up to me and meows and meows so plaintively like she wants something but what? She is not in heat, she is spayed.

I have heard this Feliway stuff would help? I bought some spray--spray it on the crown of her head? Will this help this Alpha cat calm down a little? What else can I do?

Question #7:

What breed of cat do I have? Long-haired gray with white scarf and paws?

He is a long-haired cat, very stocky and broad. He struts more than he walks, and his heavy walk is so exaggerated at times that he almost seems bow-legged --- he is growing up to be a VERY large cat. He is solid gray with white paws, scarf, and a little spot on his chest. He has long hair all over with a very fluffy tale. He's starting to grow longer hair around his face like a mane, too, though he only has mutton chops right now!

I'm thinking that he's part rag doll or ragamuffin because of his temperament, but I'm just not certain. He goes limp when he gets picked up, loves laying on his back, follows me from room to room, and even plays fetch. I can't find any information about his color pattern -- I actually only found one picture of another cat with the same colors.

Any speculations on his breed? Is his color pattern indicative of any specific breed?

Question #8:

How many feel this is an appropriate post in the paper?

With so many inappropriate question on this site, I thought this item was a gem, and when we answer like this, we get a violation notice..the truth hurts.
You aren't looking for them, but I found your two dogs.

>
>Sigh. No one is looking for these guys. And I see why. They hump everything in sight, try to dominate our old doggies, try to eat our cats and pee on everything and bark at everything. Neurotic, lick constantly. They know no commands, either in English or Spanish. They are aggressive and probably lived in a puppy mill. You dumped them, probably, and we picked them up before they were killed by traffic. Unneutered, no tags, under 1 year old small males. I hate you, person who dumped these dogs. There are no lost ads on phone poles, no lost ad on Craig's list, no lost ad in the paper. We put signs up all over, put a found notice in at the local pounds and if you were looking for these filthy little ragamuffins, you would have found them. We are afraid to take them to the pound because under stress, your dogs were snappy and horribly afraid and dogs are judged by temperament for adoption placement. They would not have passed that test. However.....
>
>They are, under their filth, mats and horrible habits, adorable. They have learned "Quiet," "Come," "Sit." They have stopped being so neurotic and we have broken most of their bad habits in just a few days. They are smart and sweet and are looking for guidance and WANT to be good little dogs. One is a purebred little white and buff guy with an under bite, the other is a brown little dog that looks almost exactly like a miniature version of a larger breed dog. They know each other and were obviously (by the same bad habits) raised (poorly) together. We will get them neutered, train them and get them into a good, loving home with people who use the brains God gave them.
>
>If these are your dogs, come on by, I'd like to kick your ass.
This was an ad from craigslist from a shelter in Kentucky. But I will remember to use it when ever I find a stray.feel free to pass it on thru an e mail

Question #9:

What do these songs have to do with the war in Vietnam?

The first song is Inoculated City by The Clash

The soldier boy for his soliders pay
Obeys theeargent at arms whatever he says

The seargent will for his seargent's pay
Obeythe general order of the battle play

The generals bow to the government
Obey the charge you must not relent

What of the neighbors and the prophets in bars?
What are they saying in the publiz bazaar?
We are tired of the tune
You must not relent

At every stroke of the bell in the tower there goes
Another boy from another side

The bulletins that steady come in say those
Familiar words at the top of the hour

The jamming city increases its hum
And those terrible words continue to come

Through bras music of government hear those
Guns tattoo a roll on the drums

No-one mentions the neighboring war
No one knows what they're fighting for
We are tired of the tune
You must not relent

The second song is Lost in the Flood by Bruce Springsteen

The ragamuffin gunner is returnin' home like a hungry runaway
He walks through town all alone--"He must be from the fort," he hears the high school girls say
His countryside's burnin' with wolfman fairies dressed in drag for homicide
The hit-and-run plead sanctuary, 'neath a holy stone they hide
They're breakin' beams and crosses with a spastic's reelin' perfection
Nuns run bald through Vatican halls, pregnant, pleadin' immaculate conception
And everybody's wrecked on Main Street from drinking unholy blood
Sticker smiles sweet as Gunner breathes deep, his ankles caked in mud
And I said, "Hey, gunner man, that's qucksand, that's quicksand, that ain't mud
Have you thrown your senses to the war, or did you lose them in the flood?"

That pure American brother, dull-eyed and empty-faced
Races Sundays in Jersey in a Chevy stock super eight
He rides 'er low on the hip, on the side he's got "Bound for Glory" in red, white and blue flash paint
He leans on the hood telling racing stories, the kids call him Jimmy the Saint
Well, that blaze-and-noise boy, he's gunnin' that bitch loaded to blastin' point
He rides head first into a hurricane and disappears into a point
And there's nothin' left but some blood where the body fell, that is, nothin' left that you could sell
Just junk all across the horizon, a real highwayman's farewell
And I said, "Hey kid, you think that's oil? Man, that ain't oil, that's blood"
I wonder what he was thinking when he hit that storm, or was he just lost in the flood?

Eighth Avenue sailors in satin shirts whisper in the air
Some storefront incarnation of Maria, she's puttin' on me the stare
And Bronx's best apostle stands with his hand on his own hardware
Everything stops, you hear five quick shots, the cops come up for air
And now the whiz-bang gang from uptown, they're shootin' up the street
And that cat from the Bronx starts lettin' loose, but he gets blown right off his feet
And some kid comes blastin' 'round the corner, but a cop puts him right away
He lays on the street holding his leg, screaming something in Spanish, still breathing when I walked away
And somebody said, "Hey man, did you see that? His body hit the street with such a beautiful thud"
I wonder what the dude was sayin', or was he just lost in the flood?
Hey man, did you see that, those poor cats are sure messed up
I wonder what they were gettin' into, or were they just lost in the flood?

Question #10:

What cat to get?! My first cat?!!!?

ok well long story short, someone gave me their maine coon cat and the very next day i let it out and its lost, for a few days. i still cat find it and the previous owner who lives 5 minutes away hasnt seen her either. so now im pretty bummed out, ive passed out flyers, re-posted them and knocked on peoples door, now i will walk around the neighborhood daily and wait for a phone call. but in the meantime i think im beggining to like cats so i think i will get one for my BDAY which is in december. but anyways i will be prepared. im gonna adopt thats for sure, i was thnkinig of getting the ones at petsmart, cause its more convinient for us. so yea, not sure what kinds they have but its changes monthly so... anyways could you guys tell me what kind of cat i should get? i'll tell you everything you need to know:

im 12 years old and i would like a cobby cat, very cobby i hate the ones that have pointy ears and are skinny, and either long and think fur or medium, i perfer long and thick and soft :).
i dont care about size but not too large, not over 20lbs. i would like an average house hold cat sized one but that doesnt matter. and i want it to like only me (sorry for talking like a brat, only way i can explain it) and i would like it to be active but not overly active, i dont care about color. and i would like it to be VERY friendly, but thats kind of a problem as the cat will be half outdoors and half inside, mainly indoors, but outdoors while im at school, for the first few weeks it will be inside but later on,,, and i would love it to cuddle with me and everythying. i dont it to scratch or bite at me when i randomly pick it up. i have a yorkie that isnt interested in other animals, kinda. i want to be vocal but that doesnt matter. i have a 5 year old sister that will probably never touch it, maybe a few times but almost never. OH and im very allergic to cats. ive been thinking about a ragdoll, ragamuffin, siberian, or some other fluffy hypo-allergenic cat. please note the things ive said. thank you! please email me if you have any questions!!!!!

PS: i would like an intelligent cat and is very friendly yet intelligent and not so stubborn
Jc: well excuse ne but NO she is not dead or anything cause people called me from my flyers and said they saw my cat. And Iput food out every night and every morning it's gone, it could be another animal but I doubt it

Question #11:

WHAT CAT SHOULD I GET?! ITS MY FIRST!?

Question #12:

What breed of cat should I get?

I've been thinking of LaPerms, Maine Coons, Munchkins, Ragamuffins, etc.
I'm wanting a cat that is not too pointy, not too cobby.
It (he or she) should be very affectionate and talkative and also be able to be left alone for about 6 hours a day, since I need to go to schools, parents to work.
Do you have any reccomendations?

thank you very much in advance
Maybe an ocicat. I don't know. Maybe I'll go to an animal shelter and see what's there.

Question #13:

Can a dog be allergic to cats?

I just got a Shih tzu and already have a ragamuffin (long haired) cat. he seems to sneeze alot around her. is that a Shih tzu trait? or could he be allergic to my cat?

Question #14:

Do Havanese dogs and Ragamuffin cats get along?

I have read that Havanese dogs get along well with cats, but on the Ragamuffin page, I've read that they are compassion-able, but it mentioned nothing about dogs. So will someone with experience of cats and dogs tell me whether they will get along together? Thanks!

Question #15:

Why doesn't my cat like strangers?

We got my cat 2 years ago. She's a ragamuffin breed. I've heard they are supposed to be friendly and such, but she only likes me, my mom, and kids. That's it. Anytime anyone else comes over, she hides. Especially if it's a guy. If they go to pet her, she runs and hides and will not come out for hours...What could be the reason for this and should I be worried about it? She's about 3 years old now...Thanks!

Question #16:

how can I force my cats to get along?

My two male but neutered cats are not getting along. They used to snuggle and be sweet to eachother, but four months ago we moved cross country and our three cats were stuck in a crate together for two days, with only a few breaks. Ever since then the two males haven't gotten along.
The one who is a bully is a large Ragamuffin breed (known for being docile and friendly, which he definitely is, to everyone but the other cat) and the one who always gets picked on is a significantly smaller Ragdoll. The big cat (Gilly) always hisses at him. What's worse is, the smaller cat (Miles) has cerebellar hypoplasia, which makes him easily scared. Do you think gilly might be bullying him because Miles can't jump as high as the other cats? If it helps any, Gilly just typed "r3xx." I am not above using force.

Question #17:

Cat breed question! It's important, please answer!?

I was thinking about getting a cat and these three cat species have caught my eye: 1. Ragamuffin 2. Scottish Fold and 3. Abyssinian. Any info would be appreciated, just NOT Wikipedia! Comments from owners of the respective cats, would be great! Anything from diet to care to health issues please!

Question #18:

What type of cat do I have?

We got our cat for free from neighbors who could not take care of the kittens they had. We've been wondering what type of cat we have and after doing some research we think our cat may be a "ragdoll" or "ragamuffin" (or at least part ragdoll) The looks and characteristics both fit to a T! I have 2 pictures of our cat at about 5-6 weeks (he is about 10 weeks old now) His fur is starting to get a bit thicker and is lightening up in some places (but not on his face) and his eyes are more of a turquoise blue now. What do you cat experts think?? Thank you!

hmm could be.. but its hard to tell. when we got him he was on the skinny side..but now he has grown a lot but his paws almost seem on the small side in comparison to how much he has grown! i should have included updated pictures! perhaps ill take some tomorrow
i do see the resemblence when i looked up maine coons as well! i bet he is at least part maine coon because we are pretty sure he is not purebred. and he has the characteristic "floppy/ragdoll" way of sleeping and lounging or even when you hold him and in his loving personality in general!
however, his tail is very "thin" and not full at all. its black w/a white tip (hard to see in pictures)
yes he has already gotten WAY fluffier than this picture shows. and his hair has a different texture than most cats and gets softer when brushed but doesnt really shed when brushed either! thanks for all your help everyone!

Question #19:

Both of my long haired Ragamuffin cats are suffering from severe fur mats. Help!?

I have always groomed them regularly. (once a week) This problem only started over the last 3 months, and has started getting gradually worse. I'm not sure what to do. They are both indoor kitties, and are 10 year old rescue cats that I've had for a year. I treated them briefly for a slight ear mite problem that started right before the matting of the fur, but that has since gone away. And I'm trying to save a costly trip to the vet since I'm a single mom, and only care to shoulder that expense in a real emergency or illness for my little feline companions, and not for vanity issues. Anyone with suggestions?

Question #20:

How old do Ragamuffin Cats live to be?

I have a cat that I believe is a Ragamuffin I am curious to find out how old it will live to be in human years. Assuming it dies of old age.
