Question #1:
My flat is not too big. My working schedule is from 9 to 7 so it has to be a cat that can cope well with being alone for that amount of time and can live indoors all the time. I want his character to be as similar as possible to a dog: playful and caring, but at the same time not loud so that he/she doesn’t disturb the neighbours. As soon as I am back from work I can spend plenty of time with the cat so he/she will be really happy and well feeded.
I will go to a shelter to get the cat and I wanna go there with a brief idea of what I need to ask for. Is it better a male or a female? Long hair cat or short hair cat? Obviously I am not looking for a pure cat but... will you ask for any special breed? Siamese, European, Persian, Bombay, Chartreux?
Question #2:
my cat/kitten who's 7-8months got out last night through a window about 2am i think and hasn't came back yet, hasn't been fixed yet. Hes a chartreux cat and very loving and play full, he hasn't been out before and im very worried, any one have any ideas ?
Question #3:
I have a sweet adopted kitty who looks and behaves exactly like a Chartreux. She has the fur, the size, feet, mauve toe pads, the cheeks, short thin legs, stalky body etc. She appears to be totally Chartreux except for her green eyes which look more like those of a Russian Blue. Can a Chartreux have green eyes or does that indicate a mix? I am guessing she is a mix of Charteux and Russian Blue or maybe British Shorthair.
Question #4:
is it a Russian Blue, Korat or Chartreux?
Thanks
Question #5:
How can I tell if my cat is a Chartreux or a British Blue?
Here are some links to pictures of her from when I first got her as a kitten and now at 1yr old:

Question #6:
i live in Singapore and am looking for a chartreux cat. Would you guys know by any chance where i could buy or adopt one?
Question #7:
She came by our house a year ago, in the coldest winter we saw in a very long time. There were -30 degrees. She was little, probably 4-5 mo. and she was so skinny, we called her wolf. She would not came to us, she would talk and came to our door for food constantly, but she would not trust us.
Finally, I caught her. She was the skinniest thing I have ever touched. She was so weak she was peeing and pooping herself. She got better and better and now she is a beauty.
So:
She is completely gray, even the pads on her paws. Her nose is dark gray, her eyes are amber.
In the artificial night the edges of her body are silver. She is extraordinarily beautiful. Could she be a Russian Blue? A Chartreux? She is also very shy. We have 4 young children (2 1/2 - 8) and she stay in hiding all day long. She comes out at night and she doesn't mind when my 2 year old hold her and plays with her. She meows a lot.
We placed adds , but nobody claimed her. I presume they are pretty expensive, so her eventual owner would have looked for her, at least for her value. There are some creatures out there that want to own expensive cats for a status reason.
Thank you for your help and Merry Christmas!
Question #8:
I read warriors and I want o come up with a warrior name for my friend's cat.... she looks a lot like this:

so which sounds better, Silverpool or Silversong? Or if you come up with something better tell me that too. But it has to have "Silver" at the beginning of it. THANKS EVERYBODY!!! :D
Question #9:
my cat is now 1 year old and she's been hoome fed since 7-8 months old (Chartreux breed)
I'd like to know if there are any other cat owners out there who's experienced in providing home-cooked meals for their cats. If so I'd like to know some nutrition balanced recipes.
the ones online are not very accurate.
At the moment I feed my cat cooked chicken meat (no bones) or minced beef, mixed with carrots with broccoli and chicken liver and whole grain rice.
the meat is mostly 85% I think. I still wonder if that's enough nutrition for her? she seems to love it a lot though.
thanks for any feedbacks!!
Question #10:
here's some info about my cat :
Breed : Chartreux (female)
Age : 11 months
she is spayed, she recently went under another surgery due to some accidental chicken bones that she ate from garbage. but she's fine and recovered from it.
she is home fed. which means I make her food, she eats either chicken with no bones, or minced beef (with few chicken liver, whole wheat rice, and veggies mixed)
she is fed twice a day, about 70-80gr each meal, like a portion of canned cat food really.
In the last 3-4 days, I noticed she has become VERY aggressive everytime i put down her bowl of food. She'd hiss at me, she'd attack her food aggressively, her tail becomes big, she'd make a grunting noise as if she's telling me to back off. just totally doesn't look like herself.
but soon after she finishes her food, she's back to her cute cuddly self.
IS THIS NORMAL???? she wasn't like this before!!!
a week ago i could still pet her after I place her bowl of food, and she'd lift her butt with happiness. but now she just grunts and hiss and attacks her food like a true beast.
I only know after having your cat spayed, the cat would become more crazy about food. but she's been spayed for 3 months already! she wasn't even like this last week..
I know she's excited about her food, but being aggressive is not something I encourage.
I really want to train her not to be so overexcited that she could bite my hand off.
Please help or any advice is appreciated!!
Question #11:
PLEASE HELP! I KNOW THIS IS A LONG ENTRY, BUT I'M DESPERATE. This cat is my pride and joy and I'm so very confused! Any input would be helpful!
My cat has had a wart looking lump on his back for nearly 3 years. I took him to the vet when it first showed up. She put a needle in it and examined the sample and said it was a "grandpa spot" and there was nothing to worry about.
Then about a month ago I noticed it was getting larger in size. When I would touch it, my cat starts biting his leg (i believe this is referred to as a "twitch"?). About 2 weeks later it started bleeding.
I took him to the vet asap (July 4). The vet was very good and clearly knew the medicine well, but couldn't explain to me what any of it meant in laymans terms/english. She said it was a "Mast Cell tumor" and that it was malignant. She said she couldn't identify what grade or stage the tumor was in, but she recommended getting it removed ($900) and getting an ultrasound ($500) to ensure there wasn't any internal tumors or bleeding.
I called the ultrasound place and they said they thought it was unnecessary. They kind of explained the situation to me in a more understandable way, but I'm really confused! I've done some research on the internet, but it all seems to be conflicting. Can any professionals or people who have experienced this problem in their pets help me out?
My cat is 10 years old. I've been told he's a Russian Blue, but I believe he is a Chartreux breed. He also has many calcium deposits on his body (thats what the old vet said they were). They're hard lumps on his body and the most recent vet said not to worry about it. He has a few other smaller wart/mole like things on his body that slightly resemble how the Mast Cell Tumor looks now. The vet said they could remove these at the time they remove the tumor.
So here are my questions -
1. If the tumor is removed, how long is he likely to live and what will his future quality of life be like?
2. What is the difference between Mast Cell stages (of which I understand there are 4) and grades (of which I understand there are 3).
3. If the tumor is removed, how likely is it to come back?
4. Since more wart/mole like things have been popping up on him, is it worth getting the tumor removed? - please - I'm not trying to be insensitive! I just don't want to put my poor kitty through a ton of surgeries and spend money I don't really have if he's doomed to suffer in the near future from more tumors!
5. How long can I wait to give him the surgery to remove the tumor? Its nearly doubled in size in the past two months. It is now a bit smaller than a dime. It continually bleeds regardless of what I try to do to stop it.
6. Is there any way to make him more comfortable until I can afford the surgery?
7. Does anyone know where I might get some financial assistance paying for these procedures or where I could get good prices/discounts? I'm a recent college graduate and I haven't found a job yet (despite my active search!). I'm working part time, but I really don't know how I can come up with all that money!
Question #12:
I got my cat from a vet 5 years ago, he was a stray, abandoned in a carboard box with his sister, which is, I think, a turtle shell type of colour. My cat is totally different, he looks like a pure bred Chartreux (I didn't even think of it until a vet mentioned it), and has the personality traits to go with it. I think I read before that female cats may be fertilised by different males, and thus carry very different kittens in one pregnancy. If that was the case though, wouldn't the kittens be born at different times in relation to their maturity in the womb ? I am baffled, any of you knows about cats' genetics ? Do male or female genes tend to be stronger, or are they equal ?
Sorry I should probably state that I am in Europe, close enough to France where the breed is not that uncommon :)
Thks for the answers ! Should have thought of the "heat" season, and the "window of opportunity" to be fertilised by several males, duh ! Never owned a female cat :) Bryn, what you're saying makes a lot of sense, my cat has a lot of traits of the Chartreux (double coat, broad shoulders and chest, small paws, nose and face...) but his coat does tend to appear a silvery brown/cream at times, and his eye(lost one to cat flue as kitten) is amber tinged with a hint of green, so there might well be a ginger or brown turtle shell not far off... MeMe, thks for asking, he's ok !14 stitches, 2 staples, & operation took 1h30 hrs, but he's on the mend, if a little depressed to be kept indoors and with the collar thingy. Vet was real concerned about cerebral damage and legs paralysed, but not the case ! Percy&P, I said he's "close" to Chartreux, couldn't care less about pedigrees, and they were indeed common cats in France at one time. d't worry I ain't entering him into any comp any time soon:)

Question #13:
I have a Chartreux cat and he is currently very skinny, but he eats a lot of tuna and wet (canned) food but he doesn't seem to get any bigger or fatter
Can anyone tell me what I can do or what to buy or anything...
Thanks ahead of time,
Gr8saxo
Question #14:
She's the almost exact description of a Chartreux.
Except she has green/yellowish eyes and she's white. With black spots. Like a Dalmatian. No joke, that's why I bought her 12 years ago. She's at least 13-14 and she's still agile, alert, and healthy. She can eat dry meow-mix and she never gets sick.
She meows when she's locked out of a room or stepped on but other than that there is no noise.
She purrs. Like crazy. You could hold her upside down and she'll still purr. She's a purr machine, and as long as she stays away from water and is somehow grounded she will keep purring.
She gets along with dogs but frequently fights with other cats.

Question #15:
Ok so here is the story-
I left 2 weeks to spend time at my mom's leaving my beloved cats, After the 1st week while i was there, my dad called me (he is watching the cats) saying my kitten Pickles got killed by a possum, he was lifeless on the black top and he tried his best to get him to the vet as soon as possible. But he died..
I been devastated ever since. I wouldn't eat or stop crying...
Then i get ANOTHER phone call with my dad saying my female Chartreux was VERY pregnant! (Spaying was very slow. And our animal hospital/doctor is HORRIBLE. the ladies are rude, they don't give a crap if your pet is dying in any second now. you have to wait 45 minutes to make sure its OK since u didn't make a appointment)
I just lost my most loved cat, and im getting more?! I don't know what to do at all. When will i know when she is in labor?, Should i help out during the birth?, or leave it to her?
-Thanks

Question #17:
I have recently bought a chartreux cat at the animal shelter about 2 months ago. She is 2 1/2 to 3 years old. Every morning she yells for food and I give it to her, but by lunch time it's gone and she's screaming for more, I only fill up one side of her bowl in the morning. Am I feeding her too much or not enough? My other question is: When she uses the litter box it seems like she has the runs and smell awful, my question is, how do I fix this problem and what kind of food do I buy? She's currently on Purina and Meow Mix.

The pet food recall scared us into making our own cat food at home. We did alot of research into cat nutrition requirements and went through alot of trial and error trying out new recipes for the cats - seeing what they liked and what they didn't. We ended up with quite a few super yummy recipes. Our friends begged us to share the recipes with them and we realized there were probably lots of other cat owners out there that would love to try these cat food recipes out on their cat too! So, 123 CatFood.com came into being. It really is as easy as 1-2-3.
