Question #1:

Why do people say it's unacceptable to eat a dog but it's okay to eat a cow?

They are both animals and they both feel and both have awareness. btw, I'm a vegetarian and I think no animal should be used for food. I was just wondering why people take it okay to eat a cow, pig, chicken, etc. on a daily basis but think it's disgusting to eat a dog or a cat like some people do in China and other places?
Thanks xoxoxox

Question #2:

What's the best way to deter my female cat from jumping on the table and sleeping there?

I have owned many cats over 23 years, however these have all been male and well trained. I took a female cat in last Sept, from 8 weeks old. She got pregnant at 10 months old and had 4 kittens. 3 of which are going to good homes, before I get any lectures on this.
I also have 2 male cats and they mainly stay outside, they do have a catflap but prefer to go out more than stay in. They are neutered.
Polly, the female cat, has got used to being kept in because of giving birth and having to feed her kittens. She does go out a lot in the day but I bring her in to feed her babies and to eat as she obviously needs more food. Her kittens are 5 weeks old today.
I know cats will sleep anywhere, not necessarily a place you make for them but will go to their own preference. Over the years i've known my cats to have slept in cupboard drawers, on shelves, the floor and god knows what but never the table where I eat!
I have caught Polly on the table several times now and i've had to wipe it down so many times with anti-bacterial spray etc. It's becoming a hindrance.

So, how can I prevent her from going up on the table and napping there? I don't leave any food on the table but she knows I eat there.

Any ideas? Please read the above before answering. I'm in the U.K.

Question #3:

Do female cats have mothering instincts?

I have a 1 year old female kitty and 2 male kittens.. one if 4 1/2 months, and one is 2 1/2 months.

She is NOT their mother. (she is spayed)

It seems like she WANTS to be a mother though. She like looks after the 2 kittens. She will just lay down and watch them play/eat/sleep/etc. and she doesn't mind if they step on her/bite her tail/romp around near her/etc...She also lets them eat first and then when they are done she will go to the food bowl. She also washes them, cleans them, licks them down there, etc.

Its the cutest thing.. Its like she is trying to be their mommy.

Is this normal?

Question #4:

My cat's like Spaghetti?!?

LOL. my 3 cats are so odd!!!!

I was just eating chicken parmigiana.. and I gave my cats some of the spaghetti (no meat in the sauce).. they are still looking for more! lol!

They have plenty of kitty food available to them too..

One of them was actually eating it and growling lol!

anyone else have weird kitties when it comes to what they eat?

Question #5:

Are these signs that my cat is sick? Please help I'm very scared?

My approximately 9.5 year old male (neutered) cat just came inside from spending a few hours outdoors (backyard).

Earlier in the day I let him inside, it was pretty hot out so I immediately offered him water (there is also a water bowl outside), which I didn't see him drink any of for the 5 minutes that I tried convincing him.

He stretched out on the floor and seemed to sleep.

He had looked kind of groggy, with his eyes not all the way open, but I assumed it was from coming in from the bright sun into the dark house or something, and left to go to a court thing.

A few hours later, he had been let out again, so I went outside and called him and he came to me like normal, meowing and purring.

Once we got inside, though, I saw that his eyes were still kind of half-closed, and would only open to normal size when something startled him.

He meowed very little which is unusual, and then started meowing like he was upset or in pain, which scared me since he never does that. Instantly I felt that something was very wrong.

He then lay down out of nowhere (he's very energetic so it was odd) and looked kind of uncomfortable. He kept getting up and moving and laying down as if he couldn't get comfortable.

He also keeps licking his mouth as if he has an aftertaste or dry mouth, and his nose feels very dry.

Normally he is CRAZY for cat treats, but when I shook the can he seemed interested, then took one and spat it out. My mom said that his food bowl looked like he didn't eat much today.

What kind of sickness are these symptoms of??? Poisoning or maybe dehydration?
Can this wait until morning to call the vet?

If he died in the night or something I would be completely crushed, I mean like my life would stop. I got him when I was 11 (I'm 20) and have been fearing things happening to him from day one.

I lost my very first cat about a year ago and it was very upsetting, as he died before I could euthanize him. I wanted him to be in the vet every single day that he was sick but my parents told me we could not afford it. Having to watch him slowly die like that broke my heart. :(
EDIT: My dad just came home and told me that he was out all last night and has been acting weird like this since this morning, came in and layed down to sleep right away, did not eat and possibly did not drink anything. :((((

My mom felt his abdomen/bladder area and didn't feel any tightness, he purred the whole time even when she pressed on his bladder.

He still purrs and meows happily now but its still obvious something is wrong. I feel like I can't go to sleep. :(

Question #6:

Trying to turn one room into two. Please help :)?

My Florida room currently doubles as my kids playroom/cats room. It's a very long room with two sliding glass doors on the same wall, one on one end and one on the other. 3/4 of the room is the kids area and the last little bit is the cats area where the litter boxes and cat and dog food bowls are. I have a problem with the cats filthing up the kids stuff. I mean urination, hairballs, cat fur everywhere. I have it somewhat seperated with boxes and stuff but it only keeps the kids away from the cat area not the cats away from the kids area. I would just get rid of the animals and be done with it but they're my mom's animals so I can't. I want to somehow separate the two areas with something high enough that they can't jump over and able to be somehow anchored to the wall so the kids and animals can't knock it over. I want to redo their entire play area with all brand new stuff but it's useless if I can't close off that area. Any suggestions?

Question #7:

How long after my cat throws up can i feed her?

My cat threw up 4-5 times about an hour ago, she seems better now she started playing, i took her food away but now shes looking for it? Should i feed her or wait a while?
She keeps laying near and walking around her food bowl and meowing. I dont know what to do? 24 hours seems like a long time.

Question #8:

Why is my cat throwing up all of a sudden?

I adopted a 1 1/2 year old cat a week ago and shes been fine. but today she just threw up 4-5 times. it wasnt a hairball. it was a few yellow piles and then white foam. Shes been eating dry food and 1/4 of a small can of wet food a day? What is causing her to throw up?

Question #9:

Will my cat ever loose her belly fat?

I adopted a 1 1/2 year old cat and she was in the cage for 4 months so she has a belly.. I was wondering what kind of diet i should put her on and if she will ever loose that belly fat? I play with her but shes still a little lazy and likes to sleep i only had her a week. Right now she has 1/4 of a small can of wet food a day and then she has her hard food through out the day. What else can i do?
Shes spayed.. i know she has the belly cause she was in the cage for 4 months.

Question #10:

Experienced CAT people...help with cat peeing on my futon!!?

Hi, I've already researched the other answers on how to get your cat to stop peeing on the furniture, so please, I need different answers. My situation is a bit more complicated.
First of all, my cat is already fixed (spayed). So that's not the issue.

Here's the story: I have 2 female cats that get along wonderfully- both spayed. They are inside cats & we have a dog outside. One cat ran outside (my 3 year old left the screen door open too long) a couple days ago & my dog decided to rough her up. She's fine, but she did get a minor injury. I'm pretty sure my other cat is reacting to her friend not feeling well (by peeing on our futon). She's done it before when I've changed her food. Seems like she does it when she's upset, etc. Other than these few incidences, she's always used the litter box.

As u can imagine, I've tried spraying the soiled areas with special spray (It's called Dumb Cat) and it's supposed to break up the enzymes, etc. I also put a waterproof mattress cover over the futon. So my question is, can anyone suggest any other products or sprays that work REALLY well? I need her to avoid the area. I've heard "feliway" is good. Should I thoroughly clean the area (again) with a better product & then spray the stuff that keeps cats OFF the area? Do you think she'll go find a new spot to pee on? I know, there's no way of knowing. I'd squirt her with the squirt bottle IF i was able to catch her doing it....I've only seen her do it once. I have 2 kids & I'm not always home, so it's kinda hard to stand around & watch her.

Thank u in advance for suggestions!! Please, no rude comments from "dog people". I love dogs too. I also love my cats & want to fix the problem. Animals are not disposable.

Question #11:

the weird thing in islam out of the blues(2)?

hi guys im makeing a series of weird stuff that came into islam but are not exactly islam. this is the 2nd post. shout WTF? laugh your brains out, puke ,eat pop corns, do what ever you wana do . have fun :D

1-pump up the base

ok i know it is quite a shameful act. but in the sub continental people actually beat drums at shrines. crazy huh? people gather in there at the date when the saint which that shrine belongs to and beat drums and sing qawalies.
now note that according to islam people are not even allowed to drink water near graves. and they just HIT IT!!!!
(oh did i tell you that they also make food in there? and may i say the bariyani those people make is VERY delicious)

2- shake them hips bebeh

ok now this one is really perverted LOL!! sometimes actually mostly when they do all the singing in the shrines people dance a little. .........actually calling it dance would be wrong they just "sway" and i mean it PEOPLE just "sway"

BUT SOME TIMES some women totally lose it and "hit zeee floor" they go all "move them hips wa ah ah" and then its all crazy dance party time babeh!!! wooh!!! the scarfs fly away the hairs are swinging in the air. the drums pump up the base and the so called "holy" ceremony transforms into a totally rad dance party. WOOOO!!!

3- OH rats!!!!

ok so this is about a saint named "dole shah" there is a shrine of him in pakistan. i wont go into details cuz details are very long. but people who dont have a kid go there and make duaa that they get one. but there first child would have a really small head. and they are suppose to give the child to the shrine.

back when dole shah was a live he used to teach these kids about islam and they were his students. but now those kids are professional beggars and are called "dole shah ki chohi" (rats of dole shah)
this is the verge of ignorance. once who were suppose to learn islam are now bound to have a miserable life?

4- to pray or not to pray that is the question

ok again this myth originates in sub continental. people go to the shrines of saints and pray to them. i mean it PRAY to them. they actually do shirk and still calll themselves muslim. if you say anything to them. they say that they pray to them that they pray to allah for them.

but note the height of stupidity because dead can not even pray for themselves how will they pray for others? this is just like the idol name manat which was in kaaba. manat was a very pious saint. but people made idols out of him.

Question #12:

My fiance says I should pack him a lunch every day and wake up before he does to make him breakfast?

He makes me feel as if I would be a terrible "wife" because I don't wake up at 4am to make him breakfast and I don't pack him a lunch every day (he wakes up at 5am and I don't have to be up that early because I don't have to be in at work until 9am. Also, I am not a morning person at all.).
However, I do all the food shopping, cook dinner, take care of the cats.
He does his own laundry.
I think he is upset I don't do his laundry either (I don't because he doesn't like the wau I do his laundry so I stopped.)
I also do all the cleaning and the dishes after dinner.

This is depressing me because I feel that if Imarry him, life will feel more like a chore and I am beginning to resent him - like being in a relationship with him is just "another job" but it's worse - because the "job" is at home 24/7.

I also don't feel he even does anything for me. Like if I were to leave him today, there isn't one thing he does for me that I wouldn't be doing if I was single. He is actually MORE WORK for me.

He also doesn't even contribute 50% of all the bills if I count food bill. We both work and I think I am paying more for all the food he eats.

Is he right - is it a "wife's" duty to pack him lunch every day and wake up before he does to make him breakfast - at 4am?

Thanks!
He makes me feel like he thinks less of me as wife material because I don't do this for him.
I have said to him "what do you do for me?" He really doesn't do much of anything for me.
He works alot, comes home sleeps, works on HIS car fixed my breaks a few times - that's about it.
I tried telling him we both work full time and wives that do that do not work.
He wants a "woman that takes care of him and doesn't work.".
Well, quite frankly, he doesn't make enough for that!

Question #13:

I'm not evacuating for hurricane earl..even though it's mandatory. Dumb idea?

they can suck it. I'm gonna wait it out and see what happens. I got a bottle of whiskey here in my apartment, and I'm ready to see what happens. I live on the 4th floor, so I'm not gonna get flooded or anything. This is my first hurricane and I'm excited to see what happens. Got my camera, some food and water, now I'm just waiting for the party to start. Wind is kicking up a bit, but the really fun is about to get started.

Is this stupid since it's a CAT 4? They say it will drop in strength as it nears the coast, so that's why I'm staying.

Question #20:

How do I get my cat to eat wet cat food instead of dry cat food?

I have heard that dry cat food is bad for your cats health. My cat loves dry cat food and only eats a small amount of the wet cat food. I used to give her dry food in the mornings but now I have started to give her wet cat food as that would be the time when she is the most hungry. This morning she woke me up meowing becuase she was hungry and I fed her one of those small tins of cat food and she only ate half. An hour later she still didn't finish it. I gave her a small pile of dry cat food and she ran straight over and ate it. I don't think it is enough food for her to be eating only one small tin of cat food a day (half in the morning, half at night). She is already small and although her weight is okay, she really doesn't need to be any thinner.
